The Trumpet from Mars…

… as some friends call the high frequency/ super tweeter on top of the BV 88 by TAD/Exclusive. In fact it looks like a species from a different planet. Does it sound like that?

Yes and No!  But it is hard to describe as this 4 way horn system, including a large field coil bass driver of SupraVox, provides so many possibilities catering to the needs of the listener.

Bavarian Voice 88 trumpet (2)My blog partner recommended using the Fostex attenuators for adjusting the three TAD drivers.BV 88 DRIVERS – a good choice!

Western Electric 86 amplifier

Hard work on a Sunday in my office workspace a I am checking the 86 amplifier listening to we16a via we46 amplifier. I know my blog partner is also slaving away with the soldering iron this morning….as he loves the Beatles I imagine he is enjoying their songs as he burns his fingers!

All fun…

Whats goes up must come down

I was reading again and as a curious individual an article that made me think of a tune I used to sing as a young(er…) man when in the workshop

“Spinning Wheel” by Blood, Sweat & Tears.

What goes up, must come down
Spinnin’ wheel, got ta go round
Talkin’ ’bout your troubles it’s a cryin’ sin
Ride a painted pony,
let the spinnin’ wheel spin

Ya got no money, and ya
ya got no home
Spinnin’ wheel all alone
Talkin’ ’bout your troubles and ya
ya never learn
Ride a painted pony,
let the spinnin’ wheel turn

Did ya find a directing sign
on the straight and narrow highway?
Would you mind a reflecting sign
Just let it shine, within your mind
And show you the colours that are real.

Someone is waitin’ just for you
Spinnin’ wheel spinnin’ to
Drop all your troubles by the river side
Catch a painted pony
on the spinnin’ wheel ride…huh

Someone’s waitin’ just for you
Spinnin’ wheel’s spinnin’ true
Drop all your troubles by the river side
Ride a painted pony,
let the spinnin’ wheel fly.

So this is what made me prompt this memory…

And why? Well living in France here in Paris we see never ending raise towards the stars as ultra hotels open, so what gies up must come up down?

All fun…

Assembling the big horns…

Before you get it listen a bit of work is required. Good friend set their everyday agendas aside to help carry up the stairs into the room and build, yes they do pass the average door!

Thanks to w2, j and d…..😊

We then played them as anyone could imagine. Played with we92 amps in stereo and then for the era reminder…1925 here we are again! The we46b in dual mono. Both meet expectations and exceed them. Wonderful wonderful….
